This temperature distribution arises because ozone (O3) molecules in the stratosphere absorb a portion of the incoming ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the Sun, undergoing chemical reactions that convert the energy of light into heat.\u00a0Distinct from the troposphere where we reside below 10 km altitude, the stratosphere exhibits features such as lower pressure, minimal atmospheric moisture, and intense UV radiation.
