OVERVIEW

Overview of the c-SRUP

The center for Space Research and Utilization Promotion (c-SRUP) was established in April 2023 as an affiliated center of the Faculty of Engineering to address the era of comprehensive space exploration and sustainable space utilization. The center focuses on research in space science with an emphasis on galaxy studies, investigations into combustion phenomena under microgravity conditions, and research towards utilizing space environments such as energy transmission from space-based solar power stations to Earth.

In addition to these space science endeavors, the center is engaged in research and development of space systems including supersonic space propulsion systems, electric propulsion rockets, and space robots. The center also collaborates closely with Gifu Prefecture on higher education initiatives such as the "Space Engineering Course" and space outreach activities centered around the CubeSat program "Gifu High School Satellite (GHS)." Furthermore, it promotes the creation of space businesses through industry-academia collaboration.

Director's Address

The Gifu Space Project Research Group, initiated by Gifu Prefecture and Gifu University in November 2021 with President Kazuhiro Yoshida as Chair, aims to foster the space industry for Asia's leading aerospace sector formation area. Recognizing that space industries extend beyond rockets and satellites to include satellite data utilization, the rapid expansion of such uses requires nurturing the industry alongside fostering space technology talent.

Gifu University has engaged in high-level, remote space engineering education and the CanSat exercise program, centered on its Faculty of Engineering and the Advanced Space Technology Talent Development Project, under the Gifu Space Project Research Group. The practical space education program began with the Gifu High School Satellite (GHS) project, where high school students produced CubeSats that were released and operated from the International Space Station (ISS).

Launched in April 2023, the Faculty of Engineering's the center for Space Research and Utilization Promotion (c-SRUP) oversees planning and management of Gifu University's high-level, collaborative space education, providing cutting-edge research and education in space science and engineering. The Center collaborates organically with related companies and institutions to construct a network.

The Center covers a wide range of fields, including galaxy research using an 11-meter radio telescope, space engineering such as supersonic combustion engines for space transport, electric propulsion rockets, and space robot research and development. Additionally, it investigates space environments, including combustion under microgravity, and space utilization such as energy transmission in space-based solar power.

The Center is committed to comprehensive space exploration and development through educational programs, research environments, and collaboration with stakeholders interested in space projects. We look forward to your continued support and active participation.
